My Story

When I transferred into Liberty University in the spring of 2022, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue professionally. I had interests in marketing, journalism, and business, but I couldn’t narrow it down. After taking a few entry level communication classes, I discovered that I had a passion for communicating clearly and effectively with those around me in a business environment. This led me to pursue my degree in Strategic Communication: Social Media Management with a minor in Journalism.

I joined the Liberty Champion newspaper staff in the fall of 2022 where I began digging deeper and learning more in my journalism journey. Since joining the Liberty Champion staff, I’ve had the opportunity to interview dozens of individuals on a variety of topics including political news, community and university events, and feature stories. My time at the Liberty Champion has taught me the importance of going into each assignment with a general plan, but also with an open mind and readiness for change. I’ve learned how to create stories that evoke emotion in the reader and how to effectively articulate my thoughts on almost any topic, as well as how to think quickly on my feet.

Brand Creation Project – SCOM487

In the fall of 2024, my SCOM487 class was assigned to create and design a brand in less than 20 minutes. Our challenge was to come up with the following from scratch:

  • Brand name
  • Brand colors/fonts,
  • Brand mission and purpose
  • Brand offerings
  • Mock testimonial.

For this project, I started a marketing company called Under Saddle Creative. Under Saddle Creative’s target audience was the local equestrian community and high-end show barns in the Central Virginia area. When creating the presentation, I used photographs that I took at a horse show in the summer of 2024 to showcase the quality of work that Under Saddle Creative would offer.
